Nick ends up going out to lunch with Gatsby. at lunch they talked about all the things that Gatsby had done years ago. Gatsby gets pulled over for speeding but when Gatsby shows him a white card the officer apologizes for stopping him. after they ate, nick runs into Jordan. Jordan then begins to tell him about the meeting that she had with Gatsby the night before. Gatsby claims that he and daisy use to be in love but when he went away to war she married tom. He said that he build his mansion where it is so he could be close to her. He wants nick to invite her over for tea sometime that way he can see her. he doesn't want her to know that he will be coming because he is afraid that she wont want to see him.
this chapter is about holding on to the ones you use to love. Gatsby seems to still be in love with Daisy but yet he is afraid to tell her how he truly feels. Sometimes it is hard to yet go of the first ones that you loved. you'll always remember your "first" everything.
