The battle begins! They were told to not fire right away and wait for the rebels to get closer to them. When they were told to fight they didn't seem to move they just laid there until Wilson fired the first shot. Many soldiers were dying all around Henry. The Soldiers moved around the battle field switching up their positions. While they were moving to different locations, many soldiers got shot. The man carrier the flag went down and Henry and Wilson grabbed the flag from him.
This chapter shows disregard for human life. People just go crazy and kill everyone. The enemy knows nothing about them and what they have at home, they just kill everyone. They don't really care who they are, they are told to fight and kill so that is what they do.
Question: Why didn't the soldiers all fire when they were told to? Were they to scared or what?
